I'm a Nikon shooter and don't follow aCanon lenses closely, but this seems to be about $350 cheaper than I could find elsewhere. There appear to be newer versions of this lens, but this is a great place to start if you're building out a Canon kit. Requires a Prime membership.

Not a bad price per-se, but take note that this is the Canon EF-L 70-200 2.8 IS "mark I" lens. This lens has been "replaced" as Canon's flagship L fast telephoto with the Mark II in Jan 2010...that is almost 12 years ago, and there has been a Mark III that was improving upon the II, and now an RF 70-200 f/2.8 version that trumps them all, especially in the Image Stabilization area, but also IQ (mostly aberations)

That said, I think the biggest jump in IQ and mainrly sharpness, was from the Mark I to the Mark II.

With all the above in mind, this is not a OMFG deal: it is old stock they are trying to clean the shelves from. Again, not a bad deal necesserily, but would rather pay a bit more and get at a minimum the Mark II.

My 2c.

Pretty good price. Would have jumped on this before the new mount was announced. I'm definitely not spending $1,000 on a already old system though.

This has no IS. It is gray market, that's why its cheaper.

This is the price this lens was 20 years ago. Take that, inflation!

If it feels any better, I suffered the same mix-up when I read this thread (owner of the IS mark I model).
