I guess it would depend on the dog. My GSP poops 4-6 times a day and a lot of the time, I wouldn't be able to get my hand around it. If I let the poop dry for a bit, it doesn't get all over the scooper. Plus - why would I want to put my face that close to it?

Because my 2 dogs run around my backyard and poop a couple times a day. This product is way easier than bending down 5 to 6 times a day to pick up each dropping. Plus, you can fit more poop in one of these pooper scooper bags than a new bag for each poop. When I take them on walks I take bags and pick them up by hand cause its just 1 or 2 times, but for the yard, this is way easier.

Serious question: why not just use bags, one as a glove and one to throw out? Why would you want this rake and container to get all poop covered and have to clean it?

I'm confused about this product. it's to pick up dog shit, right? why don't people just buy cheap dog pop bags from Amazon and pick them up by hand after they poop?

This thing is pretty awesome. Much easier to scoop out of the grass into the bucket (lined with grocery bag) than picking up by hand with a bag, esp. when the crap is still semi-wet. Then just spray off the rake w/ a hose.

I have a fenced yard and clean dog poop up at the end of each day. That's what this is for. If I'm walking I take bags and use my hand like you said

I have a great dane, and he takes absolutely massive shits... twice a day. When I go to the dog park, and he takes a shit, its like 3 to 4 mini bags, and its so miserable to do. With this, I can hit it two or 3 time a week real quick, and I am not breaking my back to do it. I will say, had another one of these, and the rake handle broke on it, so I am not sure the quality on this exact one.
