Depends, if your computer has a nvme gen 3 slot then this is better by about 2,500 MB/s.This is basically the best Gen 3 NVME on the market for the price. MX500 also has some longevity issues if you do a lot of very large file transfers often.

Edit: this advice is terrible. I thought this was the nvme. it's the 2.5 SSD. Given that, they're about equal. Save the 10$ and get this one.

Have 2x 2.5in slots to use. Might just buy 2 of these instead of 2x 2tb HDD.

2.5in hdd are overpriced at around $70 for 2tb. 4tb is closer to 100+.

1.5mil hours MTBF? That's 171yrs so wonder how they are testing or what data they are using to market that number? Probably they expect x amount of data xfer per hour on avg and they simply run it 24x7 till it fails and then extrapolate. Not sure if that's really accurate but I'm also not in marketing.

This or the Crucial MX500 for $85.

What's a better system drive replacement for an older PC?

Mean time before failure means it's an aggregate.

Wait, the drive on sale is S31, which is SATA, not NVME.

S31 is a great drive, some say it's better than MX500.

Was about to buy the $69 4TB hard drive from WD. This looks so much better even only at 1TB. In for one. Thank you OP.

Yeah I messed up. The nvme drive is on sale but it's $100 which is more than it's normal sale price of 97$.
