Game pass actually allows you to access triple AAA titles that you can download and play on multiple platforms. Xbox live is mainly used for multi-player online playing purposes.

Yes. You just can't use the $1 for one month of game pass more than once.

I no longer am able to do that. If I try now, it does only the 3 month ultimate game pass per every 12 month gold card. Some have said to call customer service. YMMV.
