I think it was downgraded from the previous one with mx350 slightly. Pretty sure microcenter has the weight wrong at over 5lbs too. It's probably approx 2.6lbs
Got this last time it was on sale at $499 and had to return because the fan was annoying me, even on 'whisper' which was the lowest setting. Also got ridiculously hot without pushing it much, it's a good pick if you're doing the basics and desire build quality.
Soldered memory…no thank you. If I wanted something soldered I'll get a Mac. The whole point of getting a windows PC is to make it personal…upgrade to the faster/biggest component I want.
To me it seems like it requires more labor to solder components than to just have a MB with slots that they can just connect any component to it.

It's done to make the device thinner. Just get one with how much RAM you want from the start.

Microcenter often weighs stuff in its packaging not just the laptop alone.
