Lots of people use floor speakers as surrounds. Usually with matching sets up front. With this package, using those bookshelves as fronts with the floors in the back would sound awful. You'd have to upgrade the bookshelves to the RP-500M or RP-600M to compete with the floors. IMHO.

Really depends on what kind of surround sound you're going for
We have a small living room and the standing speakers would be hard to fit due to the awkward layout of our split level. Would be fine behind us but I feel like that wouldn't work

It'll work just fine, as long as you can fit the bookshelf speakers upfront.
Stupid question do the standing speakers go on the back or the front

Yep those can be hung so the floor layout doesn't matter as much

Thanks man happy turkey day
Well the standing speakers are usually used/designed as fronts.
An issue with using the standing speakers as rears, if every persons ears don't have a line of site to all the woofers the sound will be obstructed.
We don't do this for the fronts, you shouldn't do it to the rears(or any speaker) IMO.
Do people do it and believe it works for them yes they do, sound is subjective.
