If all you have is Google Assistant, then you should look for wifi plugs. These are zigbee plugs and they require a zigbee controller (Smartthings, Hubitat, etc.).
I should probably mention that Sonoff does make (and Amazon sells) a wifi version of this plug that look IDENTICAL (adding to the confusion in some Amazon product comments) which would probably work for you. Unfortunately, they aren't part of this sale.

I have this for almost a year bought from Aliexpress.
Works fine with Hubitat, uses it as a zigbee repeater also.
A simple outlet, it does NOT have energy report if someone looks for that (bought some cheap Iris V1 for that purpose)

These outlets are solid, I have two or three and use them for Christmas lights, charging daughter's ride on, and other tasks.

Deal looks to be dead though, showing 25.99 for me.
