It's too bad T-Mobile keeps trying to push people to Magenta Max. Don't do it if you are on Magenta. I think T-Mobile is trying to back track all the deals they had last year with their free line offerings. Even with a free phone, Magenta Max is not worth it. I have 8 lines for $96 per month with all the "lines on us" deals from last year.. Magenta Max would cost me an extra $1,728 per year.

Wouldn't your bill only go up $16 per month to switch all 8 lines to Max? (2x $10=20 -$4 hookup to upgrade the two paid lines) and the 6 free lines credit goes from $20 to $30 each line per month to cover the upgrade??

That's still what $192 a year more. . .but not $1700

side note: if you have the 4k/4stream Netflix upgrade, it's $4 cheaper a month with Max

I would chat with some more T-Force reps and do some research. The free lines and hookup are supposed to migrate fine. In fact, in September they started allowing free lines from before June 2019 to be migrated as well.

I have the same promo's that you do, and have been hesitant to upgrade to Max as I had already upgraded all our phones this year. I did upgrade from old Magenta to new Magenta earlier this year and promo's still there. . .

How many people do really need the Magenta Max plan? You would pay more over the time if upgrade to the Max plan.

It depends on how many paid vs. free lines you have (assuming 3 lines or more).

It only raises your paid lines by $10 each, not your free lines.

An extreme example, but there are many people with similar situations:

8 lines total, 6 are free, 2 paid. Moving all 8 lines to Max from regular magenta costs $20 more total a month.

If you have insider hookup, that $20 is lowered to $16. That's $2 a month per line.

If you subscribe to the 4K/4stream Netflix, you save another $4 a month.

For me that would be net $12 more a month. . .

The math etc. gets even crazier if you have 9 lines. . .

Now if you have what most out there have 4 paid and 1 free or similar, not so great a deal and you want to at least maximize your new phone purchases.

****Also right now they have Buy one Line, get another line free****** It's not advertised anywhere, but reported that the deal which started in August is still valid. Perhaps that would be an option for you to grab 2X new line phone deals next time they show up, while staying on regular Magenta. Cost of two extra lines $20 per month.

I am considering magenta max because a corporate discount of 15% applies where I work. Brings it down. 19 a month for two lines. I also already pay for Netflix and that's included. Not sure where I land but worth considering with work discount
