Which one gets canceled- the ship to store item, or the ship to home? I know there's only a few minutes to cancel...

the comfortable way to execute is to get the item you want to keep be shipped and have the one you want to be returned/canceled for in store. Once you receive the item call/chat to cancel in store pickup.

Great tools. I have the older version lxt (07z + 08z), and they are still running strong. The only flaw is there is no side handle for the hammer drill in this combo.

This deal has been around for a while. I normally would just have both items to pick up in store. Pick up both, walk over to the return line, tell them you don't want this item. No other questions asked. Got 3 sets that way for my fam.

I'm not sure why people continue using the word "hack". There is nothing smart or unusual about all of these "buy this, get that free" deals, which have been going on for years and years. The two things that you buy are itemized separately on the receipt with pro-rated prices and you can return one and get the other for a reduced price. Where is the "hack" in this? Do you seriously think that Home Depot and Makita are not aware?

Everybody who needs to know this knows this. The only thing I noticed this year is that the prices are so-so. Last years there were some outstanding deals.

The last time I did this (August) my refund was an HD gift card... YMMV
I suppose I could use it to "hack" again. I have the keeper shipped to me, and the in-store pickup automatically gets "returned" in a week or so.
It appears this and the rear handle saw might be the only deals where you can choose the "FREE" tool.

Agreed this isn't a "hack". Whenever I bring up these deals, people make a big deal out of it as if it's stealing. I remember when you had to change the store location to get the cheaper price, that was more of a "hack".

You aren't allowed to break up the combo kit (hammer drill,, impact driver, charger, and batteries), but you could return that whole kit, keeping only the bare tool sander, and the sander would only cost you $80.52 (plus tax) in the end.

Meh, doesn't seem like a hair worth splitting. It's just an easy shorthand people are using for the type of deal that prorates portions of its total cost across its elements according to their relative retail prices, permitting the return of one or more undesired elements. It also allows one to manipulate the net cost of the elements by choosing the most or least expensive free gift. No, it's not literally hacking the merchant's website, which would be patently illegal, but people call easy shortcuts, workarounds, and tips "hacks" all the time. Search the internet for "life hacks," and you'll find far more about opening stuck jar lids and turning everyday objects into succulent planters than you will about splicing reptilian DNA or manipulating anthocyanins with optimized light treatments. Surely manipulating prorated price with the intention of returning part of the purchase to lower the net cost of a desired product is at least as much of a "hack" as using popcorn as packing material.

this is still a deal
i guess most of you dont know how to hack, we do it a lot with milwaukee

so the item you want, pickup in store
the item you dont care about, ship to home
after the order is confirmed, go into your order history. cancel the ship to home order(you have 45m to do this)
now you can pickup your $150 drill combo or whatever tool you wanted at the discounted rate, with no other charges to you.

the 2nd option is to make the tool you want ship to home and the tool you dont want as pickup. dont pickup the tool at the store. call them to cancel it or wait about 7 days and the store will put it back on the shelf and refund the order

Do you see any reason this wouldn't work to have all 3 shipped to home and return 1 to store?
