I got these last year for the same deal (more or less may have been $329). Very nice headphones after about 50 hours of break in. Don't judge them until you they are done with break in. Definitely appreciate a nice head phone amp (I am using Asgard 3) but don't need one like HD650's.
LG V40 drives these nice too.
I would say they are better all around headphones than HD650 (6XX) and 58X. May not scale as well as 6XX and HD650 with $1000 amps but for most of us with modest equipment better clarity, imaging and dynamic range. At $300, great deal and well worth it. At $500 there may be better options.

If you were already wanting this model, this is a great price. Otherwise, the 58X/6XX from Drop.com for $130-180 right now are a more affordable option for most people. The 660s ARE better but probably not worth it for most, those do probably 80% of the 660s for about half the cost lol.
(Don't forget to use $10 off coupon for Drop, just google Drop.com 10 off. It may require new account but this IS slickdeals).
Are these justifiable if you already have the HD650?
I sold my HD600 and HD650 after I bought the 660S about a year ago. The 660S doesn't have the mid shout of the 600 or the veil of the 650 and has better extension on both ends while retaining the Sennheiser 'magic mids'. I always liked the 600 better than the 650 though.
I have owned most everything under $1000 worth owning and the 660S will be one I'll keep.
Edit: I should say i got mine for about $350 which is where they should be priced. The regular retail of $499 is too much. This is a great deal.
How are these compared to the 58x and 6xx?
And will a MOTU M2 audio interface be enough to drive these?
HD58x are more "lively. These are more neutral and analytical. These will have more clarity.
HD6xx has more mids forward and less detail. It depends on what you like.

They're really not better, just have a different sound signature. These aren't better for what I like to listen to. It also depends on the type of music you listen to.
