From comparing the newer VG27AQL1A to the older VG27AQ, the main improvements on the newer model seem to be better color accuracy (80% vs 90%), 170hz vs 165hz, added USB3 connection, better peak brightness in HDR, height adjustable stand. Only downside seems to be it is listed as "in stock soon" so it might be a couple weeks before it ships. The better color accuracy on the VG27AQL1A seems to be the biggest difference to note.
I'm all ears for any opinions though.
P.S. Be careful not to select the "165 hz with height adjustable stand" option. It might seem like an upgrade since it's the same price as the other 165hz option, but that has the cheaper, non-IPS panel model (much worse colors.)

I got the AQ since that was the "flagship" just over a year ago and proven performance.
