Just a heads up, Adorama frequently has the 803s on sale for $109 as well. I bought the 803s for Dad and they're fantastic. Once you get the placement just right, the sound staging is great. They're more of a U or V shape speaker, meaning they're a little more lively with treble and bass, but lacking mids some. We enjoy it, but keep that in mind if you're looking for a more flat sounding speaker. They fill out even more with a sub, but they do still sound great alone in smaller rooms.
They also have some 5.0 and 5.1 sets with the 809 floor standers. Here are some older deals. I'm holding out for the bundles to come back.
Looking for a pair of studio monitors. Thoughts if these would fit the bill?
No. These have binding posts and no RCA/XLR inputs, so you'd need a separate amp. Studio monitors are generally powered and therefore would not need an amp.

Every time the S series comes up here, I get tempted. But I wonder if they would be a sufficient replacement for a super old SD buy on the Jamo C400 series from some online vendor called vanns (that probably isn't around any more). The wood grain is apple and a bit light for my more rustic decor but, aside from the sub board having resistors leak, the speakers work well, if not a little bright sounding.
