How much for batteries? And how good of a deal is this? I was considering the 3S Typhon for outdoor use.

Batteries are $60 right now and would need another charger ~60 for entry level that will work well. i.e. Tenergy etc.

Do get a Lipo storage/charging bag to charge in though it will help prevent a fire if the battery shorts and is worth the $10-15. Lipos shouldn't be left unattended while charging. Watch some videos on how to use the charger as you always want to balance charge a lipo not just charge it.
For lipo batteries:
I think this is a pretty good deal right now on batteries Grab 1-2 of these 6s batteries. It's claiming 100c so should allow enough current draw.

CHina Hobby Line also sells some well reviewed batteries
Alternately you could do two 3s batteries and then those 3s batteries could be used in other vehicles that only took 3s, downside is you have two batteries to charge vs one larger one. So if you have a single charger it's a bit more stopping and starting when charging. Up side is if a cell goes bad in one pack you still have the other pack.
This is a completely different beast from the Losi Mini T or Mini B. Have fun!
