Only bummer is that I'm not sure if cashback outside of slickdeals will work, or mileage portals.

I am mainly talking about things like the United Airlines shopping portal, etc.

My understanding is the 3070 model has the whole vaporchamber thing and can run full 60w CPU without issue.
For all the model with 3060 and above, they'll be equipped with vapor chamber. So 3070 for sure will be even hotter though.
(the 230w brick is 1.87 lbs, the machine is 3.99 lbs)
A wonderful machine as long as you know the limits of cooling an 8-core CPU and high-end GPU in such a small chassis...even with the new enhanced vapor-chamber cooling.

60w vs 40w is nothing to sneeze at for the CPU (even enabling the stuffing of a RTX 3070/3080 in this chassis is incredible), but just know that this machine will not be able to maintain boost speeds for more than a few seconds. And dont even consider crypto mining unless its a secondary motivation.
However, everything else about the machine is awesome; very well built with no flex, gorgeous 16:10 screen (most thinkpads in the past had the worst screens you could find), best support outside of Apple stores, and unlike the carbons, this is up-gradable. Just temper your expectations if you expect it to perform the same as a Legion 5 Pro ust because it has the same CPU and GPU.

I currently have an MSI Creator with a 130w RTX3070 and an i9, and while performance is very good, it's a tank and sounds like an F16 spooling up for take off. If someone was using it next to me on a flight, I would complain. I also hate the build quality, although the battery is impressive, but it was $2600.
I don't expect Legion performance, but I wouldn't be using a slim WUXGA laptop for mining or gaming. I use it for Autodesk and Visio type applications, and general workhorse stuff.

I'm in the same boat so I'm in for one. It just has everything I want. I want portability for work stuff, nice simple non offset keyboard (,no number pad), a nipple pointer. I'm fine with the screen refresh rate and if I do any gaming I'll hook up to external monitor with a expectation I won't be pushing unrealistic high frame rate and frequency. I do hope it can push 1440 at 90 Hz or maybe 120 Hz continuously without it throttling because of heat. Fingers crossed. I'm cautiously excited for this laptop and it's at the price I'm willing to pay.
I also hope doing simple tasks like web browsing and spreadsheet stuff, I can have it on my lap without much heat and that it's good at using the integrated graphics and only switching to discrete when needed without much manual intervention. Fingers Crossed my hopes are not unrealistic!
The same config on the X1 Extreme gen 4 comes up as $1950 at the 47% off coupon
Go ahead and try it, config an X1 Extreme at 47% and then config it as a P1 g4. My machine was a full $600. lower. I've been watching unboxing videos waiting for it. hit this deal, try a custom config.
1. It's quite large; although build quality feels tough and good, it's quite thick and even has trouble sliding into my small laptop sleeve.
2. The comments about the separate PSU being extra large were not headed enough; it's insanely huge and weighs multiple pounds. Together with the laptop, it's a full 1.5 pounds heavier than my MSI Creator, which is already heavier than my MBPro.
3. I didn't expect the 60hz screen to bother me much considering my MBPro is 60hz, but I've found myself far more annoyed with it on the Lenovo. My desktop is 144hz, my Creator is 120hz.
I am considering grabbing the Legion Pro 5i at Costco and comparing the performance. Since the TDP of the RTX3050 in the Legion isnt far off from the TDP in the Lenovo with the RTX3070, I'm curious how much real world difference there will be.
