Yes, unfortunately for innocent retailers who are just trying to survive, Amazon's predatory bots sniff out the deals so they can be PM'd.

The rub is that Amazon would by no means have offered the better price on its own. By stealing would-be customers from other retailers, as with this deal, Amazon's profits grow as others' are harmed.

Once the competition is eliminated, how many deals do you think Amazon will offer?
.
If I place an order with Amazon, they will let me pay with my gift card balance, use a coupon and they'll actually delivery the product.

If I order through Lowes and pay with a gift card, odds are 50/50 they'll cancel my order with no reason or notification at all. And then I'll spend hours trying to claw back a refund. And if I succeed, it will be in the form of a Merchandise Credit. Frown
Heard similar arguments about Lowes/Home Depot 15 years ago. By paying more for the same product, or the same for a less efficient experience, you're harming the overall market. Capital should flow to the most efficient producers. Why drive 25 minutes to Lowes when Amazon will bring it to my door. One involves me wasting gas, driving my car potentially getting a flat tire, maybe getting into an accident. Those two prices are the same but the cost to me is not the same.

Wow! On the cable cutters, at least. American-made for 4/0 Al cable (likely also by Southwire) at ~$16: This is a no-brainer. Major TU 4u.

Even for those who will never run their own service wiring (missing out on a great part of life), these look extremely cool hanging on the wall.

Something for everyone.... The Crimping tool and cutter made in the USA are a good deal. The imported Crimping tool with the comfort grips, not so much, but they are priced accordingly and will probably last the average homeowner a lifetime.

Turning from Amazon's predatory activities to Lowes' self-destruction, have to admit it's something I can't understand.

At a time when competition is most fierce, when your company needs to run its best, Lowes does seem to be moving backwards. It's as if there are paid saboteurs driving corporate policy.

But the cable cutters and a few other items I'll still buy from Lowes. In this unfortunate choice, I pick the business-challenged over the bully. For the greater good. YMMV.

I was just semi-kidding. I'll probably go check these out in person. This sale is good until January 28th.

I bought the yellow handled Southwire 5 in-1 tool at Lowes just because it was on clearance a couple years back (probably to make room for this USA made stuff).
Anyway, I really like the 5-n-1, use it a lot more than I ever thought would and it's held up great, quality-wise. So I'd be interested to see how this blue handled stuff compares.

Southwire has pretty good stuff. I know tradesman that use a lot of their cutters. Not quite Klein but really solid

While I hate supporting Amazon over a 'local' business, Lowe's has really been moving backwards in terms of CS for online shopping. Just a few previous online orders with them:

I'll probably check them out in store, but supporting Lowe's just because it isn't Amazon doesn't exactly hold up anymore. Besides, price matching isn't an Amazon-only tactic. Most businesses that watch the competition, (even small, local ones), do the same thing. Amazon just has the size, automation, and purchasing power to do it better, faster, and more efficiently.

Lowe's just sucks! They don't have anyone to listen to the customers complaining about them all the time? The Home Depot is doing a much better job, way much better!
