The rub is that Amazon would by no means have offered the better price on its own. By stealing would-be customers from other retailers, as with this deal, Amazon's profits grow as others' are harmed.
Once the competition is eliminated, how many deals do you think Amazon will offer?
.
If I order through Lowes and pay with a gift card, odds are 50/50 they'll cancel my order with no reason or notification at all. And then I'll spend hours trying to claw back a refund. And if I succeed, it will be in the form of a Merchandise Credit.

Even for those who will never run their own service wiring (missing out on a great part of life), these look extremely cool hanging on the wall.

At a time when competition is most fierce, when your company needs to run its best, Lowes does seem to be moving backwards. It's as if there are paid saboteurs driving corporate policy.
But the cable cutters and a few other items I'll still buy from Lowes. In this unfortunate choice, I pick the business-challenged over the bully. For the greater good. YMMV.

I bought the yellow handled Southwire 5 in-1 tool at Lowes just because it was on clearance a couple years back (probably to make room for this USA made stuff).
Anyway, I really like the 5-n-1, use it a lot more than I ever thought would and it's held up great, quality-wise. So I'd be interested to see how this blue handled stuff compares.

Might be slick

I'll probably check them out in store, but supporting Lowe's just because it isn't Amazon doesn't exactly hold up anymore. Besides, price matching isn't an Amazon-only tactic. Most businesses that watch the competition, (even small, local ones), do the same thing. Amazon just has the size, automation, and purchasing power to do it better, faster, and more efficiently.

Lowe's just sucks! They don't have anyone to listen to the customers complaining about them all the time? The Home Depot is doing a much better job, way much better!
