Both the Bronze and Sage are shipped and sold by Amazon. Unknown if it used to be 3rd party, but it's not right now.

He didn't mean 3rd party seller. He meant 3rd place as in bronze medal.

saw this the other day and didn't realize it was a really good price for it.

I know my concern was the tongs. i think that is a cool feature. But you have to use the plastic spatula. which then limits yours use a bit. A couple reviews said they had melt issues.

Obviously everyone's backpacking style can be different, but these seem like a poor fit for most people. They look quite short of eating out of those "backpacking meal" bags and multiple utensils are redundant.

Everyone I know uses a long-handled titanium spoon or spork. This is kind of the go-to option and will likely work much better.

If you poke around Amazon you can find sets of multiple long-handled titanium utensils, but I can't vouch for the brands. That said, it's kind of hard to screw this up and I use a generic Amazon one I got cheap a few years ago and its great.

The product in OP is 7.75" long, the product you provided a link to is 8".

I think the OP product is adequate for dehydrated meal packs.

I'd agree, it's much less hassle dealing with a single utensil. Camping is the only time I prefer eating with sporks.
