Andddd in for 1. Caved so hard. I was looking at the nanocell 90 for $1100 but blooming being a big issue I decided to hold off.

How can you pass up this high end model for $1200? Is it going to compete with OLED 100%? No but it's damn close enough to not feel like I'm missing out.

Most people don't really notice the difference honestly. If you're watching a cruddy movie on an OLED, it will be a cruddy experience.

Got my dad the U8g and it literally changed his life. And he's seen my OLED TV.

Poor ratings for movies. Guess that's due to the ips panel. Meh.

If you're saying "poor" based on the above Rtings review... since when is 7.6/10 "poor"? Rtings even says this TV is good for watching movies. Their "movie rating" is weighted mostly by their contrast ratio ratings, of which this IPS panel does have inferior native contrast numbers... but when watching movies, one is most likely going to have local dimming enabled. With local dimming enabled (9.1/10), this TV rivals or bests Rtings' contrast ratio ratings of many well rated VA panel TV's... plus you get the fantastic viewing angles of an IPS panel. Unless going OLED, you'd be hard-pressed to find a TV on Rtings that has a combined "movie" (7.6) and "viewing angle" (8.0) score better than this TV (15.6). I saw this in-store and compared yesterday, and at this price, and with what it offers, I would easily pick this TV over it's "big three" direct competition (Sony X90J, Samsung QN85). I didn't mean to get long-winded, but I was really impressed with what I saw.

Thanks for your summary. I've had my finger on the C1 77" trigger at Costco for $2900. Haven't pulled yet. I didn't know micro led was coming this soon. I really like my micro led iPad Pro. Guess I have to do more research now.

Why would rting do their review without local dimming on? Isn't that the whole point of micro led; much more local dimming zones compared to Samsungs qled tech?

I read this on rtings review-

"We tested the local dimming feature with the LED Local Dimming set to 'High', as it delivers the best overall experience"

This set is actually a mini LED, not a micro LED.

Also while I can't speak for RTINGS, I think they test without local dimming to determine the native contrast ratio because a good native contrast ratio is usually indicative of how good it will be with content being displayed that doesn't fully utilize the local dimming. Plus, the native contrast ratio can also be a good indicator of how good the contrast ratio will be WITH local dimming.

Damn I forgot micro led vs mini led. So the C1 is the one to get. C2 is probably getting close to release

By comparison the u6g gets a rating of 8.3 for movies even though it is a far less expensive TV. They dinged the LG for blooming and uniformity issues. That would bother me while watching moves in a dimmed room. I'm sure it looks good in a bright showroom though and that seems to be their strategy to sell TV's. Agreed that the viewing angles will be better but everything else will be worse with an IPS screen. Depends on what you value and need for your space. Oh and the local dimming was on high, as the other poster noted. They didn't hobble the set or anything. That's just how that kind of screen performs.
