I'm a geek. I admit it. I bought the sphero R2D2 and BB8. I also bought the Star Trek communicator, and phaser. Also storm trooper radio controlled drone. All from slickdeals.

If you like robots or Star Wars this is probably a good deal. However, support ended July 30th 2021. I bought this and had problems with my mesh network. I set up a separate 2g network and was able to connect and update robot software.

He has a camera and face recognition. Large vocabulary. Cool looking.

It walks like cr@p. It is not intuitive to program.

Still a deal for a Star Wars fan! When these are gone, there gone.

Going price is $85, so about a $15 savings. FYI. Also latest 4 reviews are all 1 star on Amazon - so may or may not work.

I am a huge SW fan, so it's a good thing I didn't see this until after they sold out (yes deal is officially dead now). Given all of the known issues and poor reviews, I would still probably bite (purely as a collector) at around $50 max. Will keep my eyes open, thanks for sharing this!

I assume you meant 2.4ghz on your home wifi so the device can talk to your network and the internet. Not 2G which is the cellular/mobile data network speed and pretty much doesn't exist anymore.

Yep, also, just fyi, it's called 2.4 ghz which is a spectrum to distinguish from the 5 ghz. It can be confusing as 5G (speed of cellular/data) is not the same as 5 ghz which is a spectrum of local wifi networks. hug
