To be honest, part of me wishes we had a power rack instead, but it works well enough and I'm sure you'll spend a much or more on a free weight setup.
Love the machine! Check locally first as lots of people dumping equipment. Especially late Q1 or early Q2 next year best time to find and buy these things.

Reminds me of the soloflex fad from the 1980s. You will get a better workout with free weights and a bench and they're probably cheaper. These bowflex/soloflex things mostly run on snake oil. It's like working at a FedEx lifting boxes and telling your boss you need a pulley and some rope to do it.

We've got an older bowflex. Rod resistance really isn't directly comparable to actual weights. The amount of resistance changes as you go through a rep did to the rods loading up on tension.
That being said, it gives you a workout and covers a lot of different exercises.
To be honest, part of me wishes we had a power rack instead, but it works well enough and I'm sure you'll spend a much or more on a free weight setup.
It's better than nothing but a power rack, bench and some plates are way better. I'd even take just a bench and a set of powerblocks over this.
Bowflex had been around forever, they're pretty well made, and frankly most of them don't get used very much.

Not snake oil, it's all in how you use it just like anything else.
I'm going to give you an honest review. I bought a used Bowflex elite four years ago and I jus told it a month ago. It could have been the rods were old and no longer provided "resistance" but I was not happy with it. I would never recommend a Bowflex anymore. After a work out I can't remember have a sore body.
I just bought the inspire FTX from Costco for $1408 OTD and damn that machine is awesome. Yes more than double this price but that machine i highly recommended unless you are a power lifter. In that case, go for the Ft2.
The FTX is a much better machine than a bow flex. I know this is a deal but skip it honestly. If you have any other questions let me know
