I understand your point..but I'll take a M1 based Mac w 8gb of ram over an Intel based Mac w 16gb for nearly any of my use cases for a MBA.

The upsides of the efficiency of the chipset outweigh the butting up against ram usage imho. The battery and on screen time is leagues ahead w the M1. If I needed 16gb w a MBA I'd be more in the market for the MBP, but I can understand form factor and the notch turning some folks off from the MBP.

If you need a laptop, you're getting:

INSANE battery life
one of the best displays on laptop
best trackpad
good keyboard
best in class CPU performance

Unless you need Windows / are a gamer / know your workflow NEEDS more ram/ssd/performance you can't beat the price/performance ratio on this price

This is just a lot of value for the price.

Went in my local Costco, not surprised all on sale models are out of stock. Asked the staff to check if any nearby stores have the space grey air and found one with 10+. Drove and grabbed one, done. Prefer the Costco extended warranty and 90 day return.

I ordered the space gray one right before thanksgiving and had it shipped to the warehouse near me. I've only been a Costco member 6 months so I thought the warehouse would already have my order and I just pick up. Did not turn out that way which is fine however my order was shipped, checked in and I received a email order is ready for pickup but when I go to the store they tell me it cannot be found. So I'm waiting for the Costco resolution team to contact me and I cannot simply reorder because space gray is sold out. It sounds like I could get bestbuy to price match Costco and I could just cancel my order. I'll probably reconsider my membership too because I've never experienced issues like this at places that don't have membership fees.

this is a great deal. m1 machines are just years ahead of other computers right now and this is pretty much the lowest price to entry for a whole package that you can take anywhere. i bought an m1 ipad pro earlier this year and still lightly regret not getting the macbook air.
