The upsides of the efficiency of the chipset outweigh the butting up against ram usage imho. The battery and on screen time is leagues ahead w the M1. If I needed 16gb w a MBA I'd be more in the market for the MBP, but I can understand form factor and the notch turning some folks off from the MBP.
If you need a laptop, you're getting:
INSANE battery life
one of the best displays on laptop
best trackpad
good keyboard
best in class CPU performance
Unless you need Windows / are a gamer / know your workflow NEEDS more ram/ssd/performance you can't beat the price/performance ratio on this price

I understand your point..but I'll take a M1 based Mac w 8gb of ram over an Intel based Mac w 16gb for nearly any of my use cases for a MBA.
The upsides of the efficiency of the chipset outweigh the butting up against ram usage imho. The battery and on screen time is leagues ahead w the M1. If I needed 16gb w a MBA I'd be more in the market for the MBP, but I can understand form factor and the notch turning some folks off from the MBP.

That's because the webcam is low resolution, it's barely 720p and they use a LOW quality sensor, good job
