Sad to say Tivo is a sinking ship and more so Cable providers don't seem to care about them working well with the whatever system they are suing. My new house I have to use a USB sync box just to get the pay channels to come in and it took weeks and weeks to get a Hcard and the USB boxes after that for it all to work.

This is true. Pretty soon everything will done digitally. No longer will we need a cable box or DVR unit.

I still love my TiVo Roamio's, hate having to fast forward and rewind in the cloud - so much slower response time.
That being said I don't disagree with you, esp since I think the Roamio was the last great TiVo dvr. Also with cable companies no longer being required to provide cable cards the future is bleak....

I agree TiVo is not what it used to be, and before they had over the air 4 tuner .( Roamio) that's what I'm still rocking
Rip TiVo. Been a customer since Series 3 but gave up after Roamio. The streaming channels are the main issue. No streaming service wants to create or continue to update an app for what is essentially a niche community and product. Not sure straight-up DVR functionality is as relevant with streaming services. And the streaming channel and selection on TiVos blows in comparison to roku or google tv or appleTv.
I use a Tivo Roamio for local subchannels and local programming that I cannot get on youtube TV. Been using it since 2017. I had to replace the fan and that's about it.
The case for TiVo is this: No matter what, you're going to pay for internet. FiOS offers me a bundle with a ton of channels and gigabit internet for about $100. There is no way that anyone would get gigabit internet and a live tv streaming service like YouTube TV or Hulu for less than $100 together. Two $5/month cable cards included in that $100 let's me use two TiVo Bolts with lifetime service. I plan to buy a TiVo mini and sell one Bolt, eliminating one $5/month cablecard. We use the TiVos for live tv and the built in Smart Tv capabilities for anything streaming related.
With that said, this deal sucks and has been available since the summer.
The sad part is that for the antenna version, there is only 2 tuners....even Amazon Recast offers 4 tuners for 1/2 the price....sure, Tivo has a much better interface but c'mon, only 2 tuners?

Those are true facts there.
That's why I am still rocking my 2nd gen Bolt & 4 Minis & pay $135/month to Comcast.
As much as I love YTTV as a cable replacement, the Guide & DVR function are nonsensical vis-a-vis the TiVo.
Long live TiVo.

Exactly. That's what I did. Paid for itself easily. If there is a cheaper and simple DVR alternative I'd like to know.
