It doesnt need to be on at night. Just reconfigure it so the "day cycle" is during the day.
I dont know where you got the price of those herbs, but you can use any seeds in aerogardens like the 4/$1 ones at Dollar Tree and just buy the 70 pack of pods for $18. Reuse the plastic frames.
Honestly, I had the harvest 360 and wound up returning it. The light has to stay on perpetually all day/night and it's super bright. It also attracts so many bugs to it. Most of all, I couldn't justify the price for some herbs. I don't think any legit vegetables could grow well with the top light extending only so far high. $60+ or in this case $82 worth of groceries cannot justify some herbs.
what???????????

It actually depends on the herbs/vegetable you're growing. The problem is, some of the pods require 17 hours, and some 15 hours of light. This means either you have 7 hours of sleep that you really have to time with the garden or 9 max.
The light is actually super bright and my basement is super lit with this thing. No way someone can sleep through with how bright this is.
This item is only for serious hobby personalities. Others may find difficult /boring / no time to grow things in it. IMO.
I'm not a hobbyist but this setup is actually the lowest maintenance out of my two other plants in the house. All I have to do is check every other week that it still has water inside and add the plant food/ liquid fertilizer.
Albeit, it's an expensive one.
Got one at cost when I worked at a distributor that carried them. First few grows are enjoyable and the lettuce seemed to be the most consistent, grows quite a lot. They really want you to use their pods though which are over priced.

Out of curiosity, what is 'Cost' for this slim version?

Not sure what you're growing, but most herbs and veggies grow perfectly with 12-14 hours of daylight. I grow year round - cilantro, basil, oregano, sage, lemon grass, mint, etc. - sometimes with 18 hours of light, sometimes with 12. lol
Great deal. I bought the same thing for $99 during their black friday sale. the kit has been up and running for 28 days and I already have two basil plants, Chives and parsley are growing nicely. Thyme and oregano still small sprouts. I have the opposite of a green thumb, so I've been pleased with how well this works
