Just FYI, my Marantz after about a yr lost connection to HEOS which seems to be a common issue and causes you to not be able to easily stream music or connect via Alexa
Agreed, I remember getting my new X3400H shipped free from Fry's for $549 a few years ago. These prices are just stupid today.
Staring at my X3400 right now. I think I got it for $499 from Frys. My other receiver is an X2600 that I got at an Amazon warehouse sale for $350. But the best deal was the x2300 for $249 from Frys. (That and the Aventage RXA-1000 I got on clearance from Best Buy for $400 back in 2011.)
The 2020 model X3700H is $1,499 new and going to $1599...that's why I posted this.
Already at 1599 on Denon's site, actually--it's nuts! The X3700 was under 1100 in 2020, and I grabbed one for under 1200 new in August, and now we're looking at 1599 for what's effectively a 2 year-old model.
Anyway, only reason I said it's not a good deal is because a4l often has much better deals by % on the Denon models 1-3 tiers up (4x, 6x, 8x). I'd imagine that will hold.
ugh... I added 4 atmos speakers this summer so I have 7.1.4 system speakers, but still running my 7.1 receiver... Been waiting for the prices to come down, but it is going the other way, with no change in sight.
This isn't a great deal, but it is tempting.. For me I have a projector set up, so I don't think I need the HDR10+ feature of the x3700h. But another part of me says I've been waiting this long screw it go with the x3700h. Do we think there is there going to be anything announced in 2022 that would make sense waiting?

Prices keep going up so tough call. Might be worth waiting to see what Sound United comes out with next. New Onkyo TX-RZ50 is 9.2 with all 8K HDMI inputs and 2 8K outputs vs. only 1 8K input and output on Denon/Marantz stuff. Have never run an Onkyo/Pioneer so can't speak to sound quality.

It is crazy. I know "only 9%", but compared to $1,599 for new X3700 with only real difference being no 8K or 4K/120, it feels more like 37%

Thanks. I just did a quick look at quite a few people raving about it.. I will check that one out, and see what they do in early 2022..

Also worth noting that while this isn't a great deal now, it may become a better one as Denon and Marantz AVRs are going up in price this month.
These receiver prices today are insane…
