This is not a slick deal if you have to have a special membership. I can understand if it's a Costco or Sams club deal. But who the hell is buying a Total tech membership anyway?

There are a few on here who do.
Not yours truly. And we don't do Sam's or Costco either. Unless it's during guest pass time if they even still have that.

I purchased multiple open box items from bestbuy outlet. They don't do free delivery and you have to pay $75 per order, but with the total tech membership they were able to free delivery and install things like tv and stove for free. there were no deals for appliances during black friday so i was happy i got openbox outlet deals.

How often are you buying electronics or appliances that much each year, that you need to pay that much shipping on large items? Do you own a business?

Otherwise, there's no way a $200 dollar membership pays off for the average person.

I just bought a 65" Samsung from CostCo and was easily able to lift it on a dolly, check out, lift it into my SUV, and set it up myself. At some point, being lazy isn't worth $200 bucks a year.

Sam's Club is mediocre. I agree with you there. It's basically like a larger Walmart with a few bulk items to purchase to save some money, but most of their prices aren't that much better than Walmart.

However, CostCo is definitely worth a $50 dollars per year membership, or less when you wait for a great membership deal that you will see on here from time to time. You will save a TON more money above and beyond the cost of the $50 dollar a year membership fee. All BULK, all the time. And an insane return policy on everything and amazing warranties on electronics and appliances. Trust me. Others will back me up...

I did not say that it would pay off for the average person. But it paid off for me for just getting a new stove installed. I got a $900 discount on the openbox item, plus free installation ($250).

free delivery/installation on open box dryer/washer/tv is a bonus too. I am not going to put a dryer and washer in some truck by myself and drive it home and move it to the basement and then return the truck, however "lazy" you think you need to call me out for. Bestbuy do it for me for free. And no, I am not running business.

I guess it would be worth it if you know you are going to be buying a lot of electronics and/or appliances in a single year, (i.e., moving into a new house) and you activate the membership for that year, but $200 seems pretty steep for a few good sales prices and open box crap that is already discounted a lot, being charged $200 dollars year in and year out.

We've had Sam's in the past for years since we have a local store. We hardly used it even when the card was $35/yr.

Costco . . first nearest is 44 miles away plus traffic. So 88 miles round trip. We don't need or buy that much anymore. being retired. So not worth even $50.
We do have friends and family who do Costco and can always have them pick something up if we wanted it. so far. . . not.

Buying clubs are worth it for some. Not all. I do have Prime because of the free shipping, return policy and streaming. A bargain for those 3 things.

And, we shop at Kohl's only 1 mile away and have used their Amazon return service a number of times. Easy, no packing, no labels. .. just get the return code on the cell phone. Take the item in. Drop it just the product with no box or packing. Peace

That's too bad. CostCo truly is great, but I live only one mile away from one. But like you, I had a Sam's Club membership and never used it because I wasn't that close to one and it was more of a bigger Walmart, but most of the prices weren't any better.

And Amazon Prime is definitely amazing. Amazing prices and shipping, with the throw in of some free online shows, movies, and songs.

And yes, the Kohl's connection is awesome for Amazon returns.

It is no big deal as we don't need or buy anything in bulk. Even if we did go with a Costco, we have no need to buy in bulk or for that matter a lot of other things.

More recently, we're pleased with the cash back we get on our credit cards for basic things like gasoline, groceries, and other things. Getting 4% back on our last billing statement is gold.

The extended warranty/AppleCare+ on almost all electronics purchased is the real advantage to this membership. No-brainer for me. Bought 3 MacBook Air's, an Apple TV 4K, 2 pairs of AirPods Pro's and 4 iPhone 13 Pro's and a Samsung 4K 70" TV over the last few months and have coverage on all of them for $400 for 2 years along with anything else I buy. Two kids in college so I never know when it will come in handy.
