Missed opportunity to consider the Comprehensive Captive Covid Cruise with Crazy Cantankerous Captain because, as you know, sailing the Seven Seas should be on everyone's bucket list.

Legally, cruise ships are permitted to dump food waste, cargo residue (whatever that is), cleaning agents, and animal carcasses in the ocean. That's what they can do legally. Cruise company's have been fined over 100M for illegally dumping in the oceans…and that's just the ones that were caught.
Carnival cruises in Europe emits more sulfur dioxide than all of Europe's cars.
Passengers have few protected rights on a ship. Carnival's fine print says they can enter your room "with or without notice" and have "the right to enter and search Guest's stateroom".
If you are victim of a crime in international waters, good luck trying to get justice in the American court system.

The way I look at it. Cruise lines require vaccines and testing 2 days prior to travel with them. As far as low risk getaways, they're one of the safest options you've got.
