I did some research on generic water filters for this model. I found that most of the generics were only certified for NSF 42 like this one [homedepot.com]

I ended up with going this model [amazon.com] as it had the right NSF certifications. The water tasted fine and I'm still alive.

Yes I did message admins to add price to title right after I hit submit I realized. You can also stack cash back sites when ordering directly from LG's site, unlike Amazon.

Admins please add price to subject $109.94


and also yes the NSF certifications are important. Many of the cheap knockoff brands on Amazon just have NSF 42.

Thanks op, after many bad experiences with 3rd party products glad to get the official ones at such a discount!

however, when searching my email for my account info I found a coupon code MERRY3 that provides the same discount for the water filter but also includes a discount for the 3 pack air filters for 54.95 (vs 74.95)

if you need both, might be worth trying. it says it expired 12/31 but it worked for me today!

The description for those filters only mentions NSF/ANSI 42 and 372. The ones on Amazon [amazon.com] show NSF/ANSI 42, 53, and 401. That matches the certifications for the OEM LG LT1000P filters.
