Amen to that. I just bought a high end kitchen aid hand mixer a year or so ago and it's bleh on power. Blades are all short nowadays too.

As to Allclad... I'd suspect buying an electric tool from Allclad is like buying one from Snapon. it'll be ok because they have a name, but will never equal companies who specialize in electric tools.
700W model. That's not your everyday immersion blender.
Based on the likelihood that his idea of cooking is nuking frozen wantons 😁

Honestly, I was a pro chef and have had my Cuisinart immersion blender for about 10 years now. It cost around $50 (they still sell it) and it does everything I throw at it...though I normally just use mine for soups and whipping cream. The wattage on these things isn't going to matter much unless it's powering some kind of attachment that does chopping or crushing...which would be better suited for a food processor.

If anything, I'd like a good cordless hand blender. All of the ones I've tried so far are way too weak. All Clad has one I wouldn't mind giving a go, but I can't seem to find one in stock anywhere.

This isn't an aliexpress or some low tier brand name..not only the name but braun products I've gotten in the past have always been quality, although not sure if that's changed ...

Bought this model several years ago and very happy with it. What makes it a lot more versatile than other cheaper blenders is the variable speed button. It allows you to start with a very slow rotation that's close to stirring and you can quickly find the right speed by pressing the button harder (similar to a drill). Other blenders have few to no speed which limits their use.
