Available from:Book Synopsis:
  • This seminal book, which has been called "one of the outstanding contributions to psychological thought" by Carl Rogers and "one of the great books of our time" by Harold Kushner, has been translated into more than fifty languages and sold over sixteen million copies. "An enduring work of survival literature," according to the New York Times, Viktor Frankl's riveting account of his time in the Nazi concentration camps, and his insightful exploration of the human will to find meaning in spite of the worst adversity, has offered solace and guidance to generations of readers since it was first published in 1946. At the heart of Frankl's theory of logotherapy (from the Greek word for "meaning") is a conviction that the primary human drive is not pleasure, as Freud maintained, but rather the discovery and pursuit of what the individual finds meaningful. Today, as new generations face new challenges and an ever more complex and uncertain world, Frankl's classic work continues to inspire us all to find significance in the very act of living, in spite of all obstacles.
  • This gift edition come with endpapers, supplementary photographs, and several of Frankl's previously unpublished letters, speeches, and essays.

A book for finding purpose and strength in times of great despair, the international best-seller is still just as relevant today as when it was first published.

"This is a book I reread a lot . . . it gives me hope . . . it gives me a sense of strength."
—Anderson Cooper, Anderson Cooper 360/CNN

This is one of the most important books I have ever read.
I need to reread this. Amazing book. I thought this was beyond copyright though.
I have an audiobook of lectures based on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Victor Frankl's book is highly praised. In short - no matter what external factors control your physical situation what goes on in your mind is "the ultimate freedom". Those who mentally create reasons to live are the ones most likely to survive even the harshest of physical conditions and to thrive once conditions improve.

If you're a Babylon 5 fan you might remember the line "It's easy to find something worth dying for. Do you have anything worth living for?". That's the question you have to explore and answer and once you've found it - cling to it with all your heart.

How is the "Gift Edition" any different than the regular edition?

I listened to this on Audible. The first part is tough to get through, not in a "this book isn't good" sort for way, but rather the subject matter is really depressing. Very impactful and important book

Is this a new trend for social media sites to promote a semblance of substance from time to time?

First published in 1946. When will it become part of public domain?
