The phone is finally back out again after a, what, 8 month hiatus? I think it was sold for a bit in April and May and then disappeared for what seems like an eternity. Sony just released Android 12 for the device.

OnePlus is LEAPS AND BOUNDS a better phone and camera. As much as I love Sony, they're gimmicky and have become hell bent on marketing as opposed to making their products compete.
In short, think long and hard before dropping 1k on a Sony phone. They do have great build quality and a neat OS. But given my experience, I'm much much more satisfied with my OnePlus

Yeah i was waiting for this to come back in stock since I'm massively disappointed with the Pixel 6. So big and the finger print sensor sucks. Audio sucks too.
Now that he OP10 pro is coming, I'll just wait.
I figured I'd post this for anyone looking for the Xperia 5 iii phone.

- The Xperia offers a much narrower design - about on par with a a Galaxy S9. The Oneplus is fairly chunky. (this is the same reason I didn't go Pixel 6)
- Oneplus 9 doesn't have MicroSD slot
- Oneplus 9 doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone jack
- Xperia 5 iii has periscope telephoto lens, 70mm-105mm (35mm equiv) optical focal length
For those of us who care about single-hand usage, quality wired headphones, expandable storage, and a more professional camera - the Xperia is definitely a better phone.Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.

Also Best Buy annoyingly has the Xperia 1 and 3 and Pro-1 as different variants of the same product, with all of the reviews muddled together. Change the color or storage - surprise, you're now shopping for a 1 iii!

OP7p - 7.27 oz - 8.8 mm - 6.67" (19.5:9)

OP9 - 6.78 oz - 8.7 mm - 6.55" (20:9)
OP9p - 6.9.5 oz - 8.7 mm - 6.70" (20:9)
OP10p - 7.09 oz - 8.6 mm - 6.70" (20:9)
GP6 - 7.30 oz - 8.9 mm - 6.40" (20:9)
GP6p - 7.41 oz - 8.9 mm - 6.71" (19.5:9)
GP6a - ??? oz - 8.7 mm - 6.20" (20:9)
XP5iii - 5.93 oz - 8.2 mm - 6.10" (21:9)
I agree with everything except the camera. I can't seem to think the XP5iii will be better than the OP9. According to DXOMark (main sensor):
GP6p = 135
GP6 = 132
OP9p = 124
OP9 = 115
XP1iii = 115
Even the audio DXOMark has the XP1 pretty low (not to say GP/OP are better, they are pretty low too, just that they are on par with each other...although if Apple is the benchmark, then 71 isn't too bad since the iP13pm is rated a 75):
GP6p = 71
GP6 = 71
OP9p = 69
OP9 = 66
XP1iii = 66
