Hilling Men's Leather Casual Boots (3 Styles) 55% off $219 = ($99 each)

Hilling has a 55% off sale on their men's casual/urban boots right now.

I bought a pair of the red ones from their online store for $99 plus tax just before Christmas and was pleased with the quality of the full-grain leather.

The original price was $219. Shipping was free, so it came out to $99 plus tax.

I believe if there's a defect, you can return or exchange for another based on their final sale policy & product warranty.

I've never heard of this company, how would they compare to say Red Wing? Im looking for a boot to wear most of the time in northern Scotland this summer and would prefer something more stylish than Columbia or Merrell

Hmm, interesting. I have never heard of them either (doesn't seem like many have). Says they are made in Leon Mexico, which is the capital of leather shoe/bootmaking in MX, AFAIK. (Not necessarily a bad thing, Thursdays and Helm are MiMX) With a foam insert. Says full-grain leather, most likely sourced locally. GYW, seems like a leather midsole, so if you like the style $100 is a good price, IF they are constructed well and don't have major QC problems. vs Red Wing, probably not as HQ materials but it's less than 1/3 of the price. OP, how is the sole wear? Also, looks like it has a padded ankle, more like a hiking boot, so might be better suited for hiking.

LOL, wearing my suitably unstylish Merrells, right now https://www.rei.com/product/145627/merrell-ontario-mid-waterproof-hiking-boots-mens

Also, website is not working properly for the email signup so I would imagine this is a small company, for what that is worth.

No returns or exchanges kills this deal. While I love Mexican made boots (Tacovas my favorite), sizing is not like US sizing as they tend to run narrow. If one ever visits Guanajuato/Leon do stop by any shops selling sandals, boots, purses, etc. and you will see some excellent quality leather. My sister bought a saddle there and they shipped it to her in California. I think it was around $1,000 vs $2,000 made in US for similar quality.

I typically wear a size 12 American athletic shoe so I ordered a 12.5 because I like to wear thicker socks with boots and like a little extra room for the leather to form. The info on the tongue (inside the boot) reads:
US 12.5
Upper: Leather
Lining: Leather
Outsole: Leather and Rubber
Construction: Goodyear Welt
Made in Mexico

Personally, I don't hike in them because I like to keep them clean and wear them casually around the city but in my opinion, they're pretty comfortable.. The packaging came with a Hilling tote bag if I want to transport the boots in them. I also got both black and red laces if I want to change the look, and it came with a little bit of leather treatment cream. As for the sole, I would say that it is cushiony.

I've never owned Redwings so I couldn't tell you whether they are similar or not but for $100, I feel like they're a deal.

So true to Brannock size?
outsole is cushiony? (mostly likely means not a Vibram or equivalent outsole- which RW usually have)
I looked at the picture again, looks like no stitching on the front outsole nor nails nailing down the heel (can you confirm?) so that means only the midsole is GYW stitched and the outsole is glued or cemented only. Not terrible but not a best practice nor RW quality. So what I said earlier seems to be confirmed, not RW HQ but again, 1/3 of the price for 1/2 or 2/3rds of the quality? Seems like a decent enough deal.

That's just the boot, the brand and company here are a great unknown so "Final Sale" could mean liquidation so who knows about this company.

OP you bought a pair, did you know anything about the company or see any reviews?

When you said sole originally, I thought you were asking about the insole. I'm not as well versed in shoe/boot manufacturing so I don't know how to describe the outsole other than I like the look? Sorry I can't be more help but here is a photo.

I originally saw these boots from a buddy of mine who I play basketball with (he wasn't balling with them on or anything) and I asked him about them and he said that the company is somewhere in the San Francisco area. Now I'm curious, I might go on their website and reach out to them and learn more, just out of curiosity.

You're probably not wrong about the SF connection. I noticed that one of the product photos on the carousel is a guy sitting on a bench around Lake Merritt which is in Oakland just across the Bay from SF.
