The weird thing was that it was on sale for several months in a row and nobody bothered to mention just how good a deal it was because it seemed to stay perpetually at that price.
Now it's back at $390 and sold out at most places.
If you want an enameled cast iron Dutch Oven that isn't made in China, it's going to cost more. A lot more because they're going to be made in places with higher worker wages, more environmental regulation, tighter QC, etc.... Le Creuset, Staub, and a couple smaller boutique brands are the only ones making these things outside of China.
Can't be one of those people that complains about everything being made in China while also complaining about how expensive something made outside of China costs. I'm not saying you are that type of person, but there are plenty who do.
Last year when I re-did my kitchen and was going to stock it with new cookware, I made a concerted effort to buy as less made in China products as possible. And guess what? It cost more. It wasn't just the Le Creuset that was more expensive.
