Did they change the batteries on the Ryobi products? it looks like these will not work with the "L" shaped batteries
Those L shaped batteries are for the 18v tools. This blower uses the 40v battery so you won't be able to use the 18v batteries with this. They still make 18v yard tools though, however the 40v yard tools are typically more powerful.

18V has more tools than 40V, but if you want some of the higher power lawn tools 40V is useful. I was excited about those kits because of the 4Ah 40V batteries. Thanks for your OP!
Your latest blower is a nice 18V version, but the 4Ah 18V battery is not worth nearly as much as the 4Ah 40V battery. If you are well entrenched in 18V and don't have any desire for 40V tools though it looks like a good choice.
I had your original 40V link in my cart before I saw the brushless version. I think those are fairly close, but $11 more for a $30 difference in retail new price seemed worthwhile.

This 40v 525cfm on this deal is plenty good for most people though.

This brushless expand-it string trimmer kit for $83 is also worth a look.

Most of the Expand-It attachments are either sold out or not great deals, but the hedge trimmer is only $31.
