I would grab these old cartoons from the 40s, 50s and 60s before one person somewhere finds something offensive about them and they are banned. I know that sounds facetious but it's not because certain characters were designed to be obnoxious and abrasive to other characters as part of a "slapstick" style of humor —and these days any kind of conflict is now unacceptable

I paid far more for this BD and it was well worth it. I doubt we get any more Woody Woodpecker in HD but the cartoons look great.

Great price. I paid slightly more recently. Still haven't watched it, but I'm looking forward to it.

I don't think that art should be censored, good or bad. But, it should be shown with some context about the times that the people who made it were living in.

Indeed. Context is everything. I think Disney shows a disclaimer for some of their vaulted content. Do NOT rewrite history, just make sure to frame it right. Do not apply 2022 norms to something that was created 100 years ago

Did you buy those banned Dr. Seuss books that no one ever read anyway just because they were "banned" (the owner no longer wanted to produce it)?

Maybe this is all part of a marketing gimmick to get people freaked out about cancel culture to buy a bunch of stuff they wouldn't have otherwise.

You miss the point that obviously my comment is only addressed to those who want to buy these old cartoons in the first place because they would not be looking at this listing if they did not! So there is no "marketing gimmick" to trick people into buying something they don't want because if they didn't want these they would not even be looking at the listing —never mind reading the comments about them. But yes it is time to stop the woke cancel culture that is destroying our culture. And yes these old cartoons —from Mickey Mouse to Felix the Cat to Bugs Bunny to the Simpsons— are all a part of our cultural history.
