Reviews state because the item is made of plastic, the water also tastes like plastic.
I prefer the all glass models instead.
Regardless, an electric kettle is a great tool in the kitchen.

For some reason, british people seem to think americans dont use electric kettles. It has come up a lot in online discussions about tea. It's the strangest thing.

Even the more expensive ones can state "stainless steel" but still have some sort of rubber ring or gasket that gives the water that plastic taste that can't be rinsed away.

My advice is to read reviews carefully. Our most recent good one was a Kitchen Aid (the big baking mixer company).
