Having owned both styles, the newer model with the button does make the process go even more quickly. Also, I've tried the Amazon Basics knockoff and the pet seemed to find it more irritating. The blade element seemed longer so perhaps it was making more contact with the skin(?). Unless you have a miniature pet, you could use the large on a much wider range of animal sizes than suggested.

Been buying these things for years for myself and as gifts for people with pets. These new versions with the plastic side guards are pretty terrible. I recommend finding one of the older versions that doesn't have the plastic side guards. The way the old design worked was pretty amazing.

Anyone have any thoughts on if this short haired product can be used on long haired dogs and still get the undercoat? I see furminator say they are different, but I see a lot of folks saying they are the exact same product, and even some CS say they are the same...
