What does a Switch online membership actually get you? Any free games like with Xbox or PS?
Online gameplay for games that utilize it (eg. essential for Smash Ultimate and and Super Mario Maker 2), Nintendo's poor library of decently-emulated NES/SNES games, and uhhh... I think that's it. lol.
Just split a family plan with people online, much more economical and makes more sense given how weak the service offered is.
It's mainly for the emulated nes and snes games. But if you want emulated games you probably want the upgraded version of this so you get Genesis and n64 too.

Don't forget Splatoon, which is all but useless without it.
If it weren't for that game, I think Nintendo would have half as many subscribers as they do. I felt like it was a little bait & switch with that game…

It's the only way to get save data cloud backups if preserving game progress is a concern for you in the event your switch dies. You can only store save data on the switch's internal storage so it dies with the switch.
