Crap food full of non-nutritious by-products and undigestible fillers.

You've just described pretty much every dog food out there. The only way to eliminate that would be to prepare your dog's food manually, every day, from scratch (or leave them to their own devices and let nature take its course)

Not quite. Unless you're referring to the crap found in grocery stores and Walmart. If it's sold by a multinational like Mars, Iams, Royal Canin, Hills, etc., odds are its crapola.

Hills is not in your "worst-20" list.
Its not in the "best" list from this website, but its on the top layer in other websites.
Many vets like this specific food from Hill's.
When our previous dog had food allergy this was the only one we found.
We are getting this food for 10+ years.

Many other dog owners prefer this food as well.

Many vets sell the stuff and get kickbacks or were assimilated by them in college by getting food at deep discounts. Many vet hospitals are owned by the same companies that make the food. And most vets are not dieticians and believe the sales reps.

My dog has severe allergies to everything and this food works for her. It's either this or raw diet. This is cheaper for me….
