I'm seriously considering this but the "doesn't display 4k@120hz properly" is making me feel iffy. Gaming would be a big priority on the TV (PS5 and XBox, as well as retro via Retrotink) and it's in a room that we'd can't keep dark enough for OLED. I saw the VRR add-in but also some worries that it may not be working properly?

Anyone know how the VRR update is working for gaming on this tv? Also considering Q70a Samsung.

Aren't they the same except for local dimming zones?

Why the X91J in 85" vs. a bit more for a 77" OLED? Honest question, since i'm going through this circle where the X85J looks like a deal at $1800, but then think I should just step up to the X91J for a bit more, and then i'm close to C1 OLED territory (but go down to 77")

It's more of an internal problem in my head. The 85" is bigger, but the 77" OLED is significantly better and i'm buying into a newer technology vs. an older one. At over $2K i'm thinking to just bite the bullet and go OLED.

I've decided to go LG OLED even if it means waiting. Sony's lack of providing 120Hz on all 4 HDMIs is what sealed the deal for me.

I need eARC for my sound bar, and I Sony's wisdom, one of the 120Hz ports is also eARC, that only leaves a single port left. With LG, all the ports support 120 and no waiting for a vaporware VRR update.
