Why do manufacturers have zero concept of how ram works and do this? I swear every laptop is just a game of darts to them. Imagine how great most laptops would be, and still be after years and years, if laptops had two or four of the same ram working together.
Btw that hard drive is 5400rpm so that's a straight fark you from manufacturer put them in there. This laptop came out in Summer 2021 according to Amazon.
Intel XE integrated graphics as strong as a 2011 GPU AMD Radeon HD 5000 series/Nvidia GTX 500 series according to passmark comparisons which arent real indicators of performance so take that with salt. As an aside I used to play Phantasy Star Online 2 (original) and Mirrors Edge (2009) on Intel HD Graphics 300 so it's not going to be a wet noodle but dont expect to play Fallout 4, GTA5, or Dying Light 2 maxed.
A old spinning hard drive will make you sad for years.
More than anything else a SSD, or better a NVMe drive, will improve your usability TREMENDOUSLY. If you can put a SSD in an old computer it will suddenly become usable.

A better comparison would be to compare it to current iGPU AMD.
You will have to get a NVME for this to work properly of course.
However not a bad price. Nice to have the extra storage.
As to 12 GB that is sufficient and modern BIOS still allows Dual Channel for the first 8 GB. Mostly that will be enough. But when you need more that additional 4GB will not be Dual Channel so a bit slower.
If you constantly have 40 Tabs open or do video editing then it might make sense to upgrade to 16 or even 32 GB.
Now within a month the Gen 12 will come out and the I3 will have six cores though it will be set up differently so time will tell how much of an improvement that will be. 2 power cores and 4 efficiency cores. We know little about this as it is brand new. Not really out yet. The I5 will have even more cores. 4 + 8. Although the graphics will not change.
This should be fast enough for almost anything.
Until Gen 12 comes out seems unlikely to have many sales. It will also have DDR5 or LPDDR5 more likely. USB 4 so major improvements that way as well. USB 3 may go away so only USB 4 which is USB C only. You may need an adapter to use USB A things.

Agreed....
I would rather the price be $15 cheaper and NO hard drive at all. THIS IS CRAZY!!!!
1TB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive... CRAZY!!!
And the 12GB of RAM???
I think this laptop is for STUPID people.. or CLUELESS people. It has 1TB when systems for over a thousand only offer 512Mbs. It has 12GB of RAM when so many budget systems only offer 8GB.
To be fair, it is the hard drive that I have an issue with... my i5 3rd GEN with a 1TB SSD and 16GB of RAM will run apps faster due to the hard drive speed.
Also, to be fair... by a ssd and use the hardrive as backup storage.... nothing is wrong with a old school hardrive for backup.
