The P9 P65Q9-J01 looks like a LOT more TV for $899.99.

120hz Refresh Rate (Dynamic Motion Rate 240)
1200 nits
210 local dimming zones
https://www.vizio.com/en/tv/p-series/P65Q9-J01

Compared to this M7 with 32 dimming zones at 60hz and 700 nits, the latter is likely/partially why people complain about the HDR being dark. The 120hz works better with 24 fps which a bit of movies tend to be in (120/24=5 which doesn't make for partial frames like 60/24 does).

My experiences: My 2019 M8 (M658-G1) has 90 dimming zones, 60hz, and is 600 nits and could definetly be a lot brighter, movies with lots of dark scenes I often choose to watch in SDR mode. While the M7 is 17% brighter, I think having a third less zones might be a wash. I think in 2019 when I was looking at the P9, it was more like $1100 or $1200 and so then I was looking at the 75" for $1600-ish. I decided to go with the M8 for $600 and wait a few years for the tech to get cheaper for the bigger models.

If all you have is $600, then this isn't an option, but if you're comparing between the two and have the $900, it's got a lot of benefits. If I could pay $300 to upgrade mine, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Says this VA panel has good contrast and freesync but poor local dimming.

Costco says this has hdmi 2.1 and 60 Hz refresh.

Unless you don't want to or can't sit with your TV straight ahead and at eye level. Or so days the off-angle testing Rtings does, where the LG's IPS screen does much better.

It has good contrast, but this tv is basically for dark rooms only. As the brightness peaks at 300 making this set useless
