This is SN550. WD replaced the NAND with cheaper slower NAND last summer. This is widely known. I bought these SN550 from Newegg in September and luckily it shows DOM (date of manufacture) May 2021. If yours was made in July 2021 or later it has slower NAND. At this point it's likely. Buyer beware.

On another post there was the SN570 for a few bucks more and is faster. There seems to be consensus that the ssd prices are falling, so If you can wait, even just a few weeks, there prices will go lower yet..

If you prefer, Nude Egg has the Western Digital WD Blue SN550 NVMe M.2 2280 500GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS500G2B0C for $43 as well..
