Imagine paying a $60/year subscription for the honor of giving a retailer your money, buying something for $1400, and they still have the audacity to charge you for shipping.

Dell won't let you pick the 1920x1200 with the 1185g7…

It actually blocks the option out… Costco exclusive? 🤔

Dell Outlet has them in this combo. I think Dell is slowly phasing out the 2021 model options in preparation for the 2022 XPS 13 Plus coming soon.

That being said, this is a the "normal" Costco price and nothing special. A $300-500 discount on this, like they just did for the OLED models, would be pretty slick though.

You know - they could charge you $1409.96 and give you free shipping ... and it would be the exact same thing. Starting with Amazon, they've tricked your consumer brain into thinking that shipping should be free if you spend X amount of money. As a retailer myself, it's frustrating to hear customers (and they do), say "Hey I'm buying this $500 item from you, the least you can do is give me the $20 shipping for free!". Um, no. I can charge you $520 and give you free shipping, if that's what you would like and make you feel better that you are getting "free" shipping. Hint: There's no such thing as free shipping. It's built into the prices.

I figured everyone knew how the membership business model works, but I guess you do not. The $60/year is where they get a majority of their profit, and therefore do not have the same markups as regular retailers on in-store, and online, items as they forego the profit there. It's not paying for the honor of shopping there, it's paying money upfront to get to (hopefully) save more money during the year as you shop there. It's why they make more annual profit from membership fees than they do from all of their in-store and on-line merchandise sales.

Often "Free" shipping both ways. Nothing is ever free. Not even death.

I just picked up a similar one refurbished, 2021 model with 16 gigs of RAM from the Dell outlet store. All in with "free shipping" was a hair over 800$. This is a bit too high, especially for Costco.

Wow, not bad!

These machines look pretty great in a lot of areas, especially the 16:10 screen with a high screen to body ratio. Soldered RAM and wifi card is unfortunate, as is the removal of legacy ports, but that's just the ultrabook land we live in now...
