Optoma CinemaX P2 (White) or Optoma CinemaX P2B (Black) is on sale for $2299.00. It has hit this price a few times recently and seems to be the lowest it's gone for one of the best UST projectors, especially at this price.

In all seriousness this looks like a good deal on a name brand. I saw the other one for 2k a couple days ago and was real close to pulling the trigger.

I did end up buying one of these and am stoked to try it out.

You'll see that it outperforms it in basically every category except distance needed from the wall. That is one of the downsides I've found but I can deal with it. The other is that to use the gaming mode for slightly better response time, it disables warp correction (think keystone adjustment). So if you don't have it perfectly set physically, the screen will be a bit off when you use gaming mode.
All that said, I'm not an intense gamer and the response time without gaming mode has been great for Mario Kart and Zelda on Switch.
All in all, very happy with the P2.

Preliminary reviews look great, but we're also talking $1200 more than the P2 from a less experienced manufacturer with only 1 year of warranty vs the 2 the P2 comes with.
Edit: apologies, mikebpi was asking about the Chroma (ALPD 4.0). Vs the Vava 4k I think it's pretty clear but vs the Chroma it might warrant the $1200 premium over the P2.

Love the picture quality, low to no noticeable fan noise, and if you need the speakers on the projector they're very respectable!
Edit: I should add that stands can be annoying for USTs. We didn't want to spend insane money on a cabinet, so I took a pine board and cut it to size, then got some 6" preturned legs and assembled that to make a mini table. We'll be painting it to match the sound bar stand and like it quite a bit! Here's a pic of the front setup:

I had a very low budget 1080p projector that was the reason for this upgrade, tried the LG HU70LAB and couldn't stand the lack of dynamic range (blacks were atrocious, any remotely dark scene was unwatchable), and was pretty dead set on the Cinemax P2 if it dropped to $2300 after watching every review I could for long throw and UST 4K projectors.
If you're going to be using the projector in a room with any kind of ambient light, I'd recommend getting one that does 3000+ ANSI lumens or more and pairing with an ALR screen. I have a pitch black basment and turn the brightness down a bit, actually, but if you're in a room with windows and want to watching during the day, I hope you have blinds/drapes and and ALR screen. The PX1 PRO with an ALR screen might do it, too.
