Game graphics are insane when fighting bosses, and it has a free upgrade to ps5, runs way better on ps5, love it so far

The combat also isn't enjoyable when you can cheese everything by stocking a shit load of potions and having patience. Spells also being finite resources that you feel like you need to save for the big boss fights isn't fun either.
The story in the base game feels rushed and bits and pieces are missing. It get context for events that happen you'll need to either watch a movie, the anime, read the novel, and buy the DLC. Normally I don't mind when games expand on the lore or story with other mediums, but this game requires it if you want to know what is even going on.
All that being said I did like the DLC much better because of the different playstyles offered, and you're given only a limited amount of potions to use so you can't just cheese everything. If you have $5 and you're curious I'd say give it a shot, but just be ready to put up with a lot of BS. If you can find the Royal Edition for a similar price I would much rather go with that. Then again what do I know, my favorite FF game is XIII-2
