what do the cards with 12gb ov vram do for you in comparison to 10gb? any real-world improvement now or in the future expected?
If memory serves from some of the benchmarks I've seen--- The 12GB card sits right between this card and the 3080Ti. The gains in gaming would be minimal to the point of probably not being noticed.

Almost no change at all. You can search some videos, people did comparison already. Next level shall be 3080 ti, this 12gb is just for some games need more vram.
You people and your time machine speculation. Please reflect opinions on CURRENT prices. If someone's graphics card dies today, would this be a good buy? For upgrading, I'd definitely recommend waiting, for people needing one right now, this is the best price I've seen on a 3080 since shortly after they launched.
Chip maker brings back the high profit products first like 3080ti, 3070ti and 3090. Now it is 3080. They will decrease the price for sure. Like 3080 is available, they probably have to lower the 3070ti price soon.
I will wait a little longer to see if that happens.

I'd go with 3080 10G for $200 less.
