Huge flaw of this lens is that Rokinon stubbornly refuses to fix a gigantic bug, easy to address but they don't care, after getting nagged for years. This lens will not communicate the focal length over to your camera, even though it's an AF/active-mount lens. So for SteadyShot to work, and for EXIF data to populate correctly (for loading lens profiles, etc.), you have to spend wasteful/priceless minutes missing your shot, digging into the menus to manually set it, and then (remember to) switch back to automatic when you swap out the lens. Thanks Rokinon! You suck!

The great news for all of us is that Rokinon is now making really amazing lenses that match the quality of Sony / Canon / Nikon / Sigma glass. And they do it at a much lower price point. On top of that, they discount their lenses every now and again by quite a bit.

Bravo Samyang / Rokinon!

That sounds annoying. I actually have the manual focal length adjustment option in my "star menu" because I use lots of manual lenses. Admittedly, I often forget to change the focal length when I change lenses, and only notice this when steady shot start behaving funny. I recommend adding it to the star menu, otherwise it is indeed hidden as you rightly point out.

Agreed. Though on Canon you do get the correct focal length in the EXIF at least. But, in ACR/LR you can't use Auto for a Lens Profile because it thinks it is a 14mm f/2.4 lens, not the 14mm f/2.8 lens which has a different distortion profile fix of course.

I have to disagree, at least partially. They are not making lenses that rival the top glass out there. Samyang and Rokinon are Chinese-made and built to cut the price tag. Are they making very solid budget and mid-range lenses? Absolutely. Have they improved significantly in recent years? Yes, very much so! They aren't the crappy lenses they used to sell anymore. Would I take a Canon L-series or pro-level Nikkor over these? In a heartbeat.

South Korea. They are made in South Korea.

is this for Nikon, Canon or Sony? Would this work for Sony A6500?

You may want to look at the reviews of their latest releases: the 50mm 1.4 AF II, the 135mm 1.8 AF and the 85mm 1.4 AF. Sure I'd take the Sony 50mm 1.2 (the world's best 50mm 1.2 AF lens!) over the Samyang. It is slightly sharper. But the Sony costs $2,000 while the Samyang is $700. So yeah, if you factor in price (which is a factor at least in my purchasing decisions), the Samyang beats the Canons and even the Sonys. (And it's significantly lighter.) The Samyangs also go on sale a couple times a year. Unlike the Sonys. As for the Canons, Canonpricewatch went from a deal alert site to an in-stock alert site. Smilie

Of course, if price and weight are not factors for you, the Canon and Sony equivalents are slightly better for said three lenses. Well, not for the 50mm f1.4, as Canon doesn't actually make one at all, and their EF 50mm f1.4 is straight-out-of-the-70s-bad, while the Sony Zeiss 50mm f1.4 is neck-and-neck with the Samyang for 3x the price.

The important thing to me is that Samyang provides a very high quality, light-weight, affordable alternative. I'm much more likely to bust my camera out for a social even when a $400 Samyang is dangling on it (that's what I'm hoping to snap up the 50mm f1.4 AF for when it inevitably goes on sale within a year) as opposed to a $2,000 Sony.
