I've used a lot of epoxy over the past 30 years... never this brand though. I mainly used Aftcote as a high end fishing rod designer.

I'm not expecting this to be as good as a $300 gallon of epoxy, but for $22 it might be good for experimenting. Or making woodworking jigs.

Either way, I ordered one, and my wife ordered another. So hopefully it's good enough. If not, it has Free Prime Shipping and Returns.

The negative reviews say it hardens immediately and became extremely hot. In my experience, that often means they tried to make too much at one time. So I'm going to assume it's a thin pour. in that case, you have options in using....

One option: Denatured Alcohol. The DA will thin the epoxy and keep on a bit cooler as it cures.

2nd option: Simply Mix Less. Try to limit it to less than 4oz total (2oz + 2oz)

I also see the 2-gallon kit for $75 after coupon, which is incredibly cheap for marine epoxy IF it is any good. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HSHVKTS/

Since you have experience pouring expoxy, I want to use this as a coating on some resin/plastic sheds and deckboxes to extend the roof life. What can I add to enhance UV resistance that won't reduce the durability? And when I say some, I'm talking over 2 dozen.

UV protection aside, if your plastic is HDPE or nylon, epoxy is going to have a hard time bonding to it. A chemical bond isn't really going to happen, but you might have varying degrees of success by roughing up the surface for a keyed physical bond. If it was me, I'd probably be looking at some other option.

I've used this company to rebuild (the wood and floatation in) 2 aluminum boats.

I'm not even slightly tempted to save 20% or so w/ a random brand.

Pouring in a controlled environment and outside usage are two different situations. Personally, I always talk to, or hire people that know more than I do... a lot more as in expert, the best in that field, etc.

You really need to call the real experts at Smith Paints [smithpaints.com], or BASF [basf.com], or perhaps US Composites [uscomposites.com], or Polytek [polytek.com], or in Asia that has online chat, Additives for Polymers [additivesforpolymer.com], etc. Most have something to sell, so ask the right questions that includes adhesion and preparation.

For a better understanding, Zeraus [zeraus.com] has an interesting article that claims there is no lifetime protection, but 'enhancement' is possible. There is also a difference between UV and Antioxidant protection. As well, sometimes Polyurethane with color additives is a better choice for UV protection.

By the time you get done researching and talking to the experts, you will be the resident expert. Smilie

Personally, I fell down the rabbit hole of epoxy over concrete or wood counter tops a few years ago. We are still using granite for longevity and appearance.

I've known adhesion was going to be an issue, and figured a trial on one with thorough cleaning and sandpaper. But had not considered Polyurethane with color additives, I always have used clear Polyurethane so had that in my head.TUVM.

Aquaseal isn't a "random brand", however they are most well known/recognized in the fishing community at least when it comes to wader repair lol. Not sure I'd trust them for boat repair/work given that. This stuff does look interesting for coating lures that might scratch easily, but that can be achieved with most 2-ton epoxies. My buddy actually told me that 2k clear coat works *great* for spray on lures to protect them so I may try that next...
