Mine actually runs about 10 hours (TV, Fridge, couple lights) - depends on the load.

True. I looked into that option before buying, but it takes time and money to do the conversion ($10 best case according to that particular video), you end up with a crude jerry-rigged system, you void your warranty, and are likely going to run at lower efficiency and power than a model that's been properly set up to take propane. Might be an ok option for some, but I'd prefer to pay extra for a properly engineered solution that meets my needs out of box.
for me, I just want something for emergencies (extended prolong blackouts) one every 5-10 year event type. is the efficiency really that great that I will recover the difference in the price in just couple big blackouts.

Also, efficiency is important for how long fuel will last in a emergency. It's only practical to store so much, and however much that is will last longer with better efficiency.
We have several blackouts a year, and I'll probably go buy gas at the pump for regular usage during those times. The propane is a long term backup solution in case of large hurricanes etc. where gas may not be readily available.
