AC1900 has slightly higher 2.4 and 5 GHz speeds (AX is 2x2, AC is 3x3). Both have same ram. AX1800 has a better cpu. AX1800 does not have a USB port, so no usb sharing... Honestly if your AC1900 isn't giving you any issues and you don't need wifi 6, stick with the 1900 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/co...d4010d46a8
No Merlin Support Frown
The lowest Asus AX that support Merlin are AX-56 and AX-58 for now. I think Your AC86 should still provide speeds better to what these lower end AX endpoints provide.

Bought 2 on microcenter deal. Running as AI mesh. 5ghz has dropped many times. It actually doesn't drop the connection to the device, but the devices loose internet. While 2ghz still has internet connection and works fine.
I think they have a 30 day return, which would be tomorrow, so I will probably take these back.

Had an AX55, and it was giving me all sorts of instability. Downgraded (sidegraded?) To a refurb t.mo AC1900, and it has been performing great. So no, I would not recommend upgrading.
