Go try out mattresses in person then shop around for the best price. You'll find the same mattresses rebranded at different retailers.
If you want a really quality mattress at a great price right now check out this one at Costco. The King retails between $1500 to $1900 normally and it's only $700 at Costco in club right now. Or buy online for $850 for delivery. This is Sealy's top of the line product.

Always buy the thickest gauge coils and a little firmer than you like. You can always add a topper to soften but can't make a weak/soft mattress firmer.

Yep, these prices are not the best
The mattress I sleep on listed it when I bought it from US-Mattress. But just looked at a few and the gauge of the coils is not there anymore. That's one of the reasons I liked US-Mattress as they gave all the information on mattresses so it was easy to see what you;re getting.

Depends what you get. Mine I bought from them is probably 8+ years old and still decent. Only a very slight drop but not noticeable unless really looking for it.

I don't know that this is very prevalent in this day and age. Most of these online mattress companies have very convenient return policies/warranties.
I bought a mattress for $800 7 years ago online and it was phenomenal but I ended up wanting the plush model. They allowed me to donate it and sent me the plush model, no charge, no hassle. I can't imagine that mattress companies nowadays are no longer competitive on this front.
